In House Training

The In-House Training Program of Virjen Shipping Corporation is to ensure that our fleet of seafarers is a benchmark in the Industry, designed not only to train and develop marine officers and crew to achieve and maintain a high level of competence, but also to track and resolve weaknesses and deficiencies. Under this program, the vessel officers and crew become better acquainted with the policies and goals of the company, as well as with specific, invaluable knowledge, such as the company’s Safety Management System. Each team member must be able to act quickly and effectively in any given situation, ensuring that these actions take into consideration the safety of their co-workers, the vessel and the environment, particularly the prevention of pollution.
Cadetship Program
The core of manning operations relies on a good Crew Management System. Supply of quality crew for this system is most important. To remain competitive in the market, Virjen has initiated a Cadetship program on behalf of its Principals. It involves educational sponsorship of deserving Marine Transportation, Marine Engineering and Steward students from designated premiere maritime schools. This scholarship binds the graduates to servitude of minimum number of contracts (stipulated by sponsoring Principal). This guarantees a pool of future officers for the Principals concerned. Said cadets undergo a series of preparatory courses and activities prior to embarking on their first contract to ensure they will perform at par with VSC trademark of excellence on board.

Apart from scholarships the Company also accepts walk in applicants who have displayed potential in reaching officer level ranking on board. Though their education was not sponsored by Principals and are not eligible to receive special allowances , they will be made to undergo the rigorous training scholars undergo as a prerequisite to embarkation.
